Hello Lilyians! As you know, 2018 is coming to an end and once more we thought it would be a great idea to take a look back at how this year has been for Lily with A YEAR IN REVIEW post! This year has been quite busy for Lily – She filmed the movies Extremely Wicked, Shockingly Evil and Vile, Halo of Stars and the British mini-series Les Misérables! Truly, it has been quite a busy year for Lily and we can only wish success for all these upcoming movies. Now, let’s move onto our recap!
2018 kicked-off with the news that Lily would be starring in BBC Les Misérables Mini-Series, as Fantine. She would also be seen on set of Extremely Wicked, Shockingly Evil and Vile in Ohio in late January. Then in February, Lancôme announced a partnership with NGO Care, #WriteHerFuture, that aims to provide worldwide literacy programs to young women. Lily was one of the celebrities to show her support for the cause. She made her first official public appearance in March, by attending We Day UK and sharing her words of wisdom: “You aren’t alone. You’re never alone. When we use our voices to speak out and share our stories, we create a positive space for others to do the same.” / “It’s time to take our power back and be brave. If you want to speak up, speak up. Don’t ask yourselves, “Why now?” Ask, “Why not now?”
Mid-April it was announced that Lily would be tackling the survival thriller, Titan. She is slated to play portray a young musician on a quest to understand the life of her environmental activist sister, who was killed years earlier in a fall in a remote redwood tree grove. There was been no word on filming nor release date, so far.
In April, Lily took a trip to Tokyo, where she attended Givenchy’s World Tour. And– It’s fair to say that it’s not a We Day without Lily and on April 19, she was in Los Angeles for another event during which she discussed being inspired by the teen-organized gun control protests and spoke about Generation We alongside Jenna Ortega and Lonnie Chavis. While backstage, she was asked what her mother represents which she gave as answer “A Visionary”. April ended with a bang – with the news that Lily would be joining the drama The Cradle, alongside Jack O’Connell.
On May 8, Lily attended the “Heavenly Bodies: Fashion & The Catholic Imagination” Costume Institute Gala, wearing a beautiful Givenchy Haute Couture Spring-Summer 2018 and it’s fair to say that her looks gave the fashion world a lot to talk about – all good things, of course! By the end of May, it was reported that Lily was on the June issue of Vogue Japan, alongside Givenchy’s brands art director Clare Waight Keller.
June was quite busy for Lily, as she was in Belgium and Northern France filming BBC’s mini-series Les Misérables. However, that did not stop her from attending The Cartier Queen’s Cup Polo Final in London. It was also during this particular month that we received the news that she had been invited to join The Academy of Motion Pictures. As Lily was busy i began to wonder about the projects she had filmed previously, those we got no more words of. In particular, Here Comes The Grump, Lily’s first voice-acting role. I came to find out the movie had been already released in Europe and Singapore and would be hitting theaters in USA on September.
In July we got our first look at Lily as Fantine in BBC’s Les Misérables which got us extremely curious about the character in this adaptation. She also attended Ischia Global Film & Music Fest (for a second time) and of course, had a little time for herself then to relax after all the hard work. It was announced that Lily would be joining Givenchy’s artist director Clare Waight in InStyle’s September issue! A powerful duo, surely leaving their mark this year.
Fall arrived and, so did October. During this month Lily attended the GO Campaign with Robert Pattinson, as the duo are ambassadors for the non-profit benefiting orphaned and vulnerable children. She also joined forces with Rachel Miriam to raise awareness and funds for GO Campaign. Their collaboration, which featured tote, pouch and throw, was inspired and designed by The Foster Youth of Stepping Forward LA. But that wasn’t all! Lily also showed support for for the SOL ANGELES and GO Campaign collaboration which features a unisex tee, with the aim to support Local Heroes who develop successful programs within their own communities.
In November, Lily attended the Telethon For America in Los Angeles – which goal was to take pledges from viewers to vote in the midterm election. Other events this month included: Academy Nicholl Fellowships In Screenwriting Awards & Live Read, during which winners of the 2018 Academy Nicholl Fellowships were honored and selected scenes from the winning scripts were read by Jamie Chung, Lily Collins, Ken Jeong and Blair Underwood; and Governors Ball. Lily also was featured in the December issue of British Vogue where she speaks about Les Misérables, her love for Ariana Grande and more.
Sundance 2019?! Lily Collins, check! It was revealed by early December that Extremely Wicked, Shockingly Evil and Vile would be heading to Sundance Film Festival in 2019 and of course with such news, we were also rewarded with a first look at the movie (thank you to Miss Lily Collins for blessing us with this photo, via instagram). Lily was also quite out and about this month, by promoting Les Misérables in United Kingdom while looking her beautiful self. The first episode of the mini-series aired just yesterday, December 30, on BBC One.
Lily might have been quite busy this year but that didn’t stop her from blessing us with the most beautiful photoshoots. While we’re torn between British Glamour and Stella, we decided to show you our favorites of this year!
That’s it for 2018, Lilyians! We wish you all a great year and that all your wishes come true. As of us, Lily fans? By the looks of it, we are about to be blessed with more Lily this upcoming year with the release of Extremely Wicked, Shockingly Evil and Vile and more episodes of BBC Les Misérables!
