The first trailer for “The English Teacher” was released. The movie will premiere during the the Tribeca Film Festival this month before hitting theaters on May 17.

Linda Sinclair (Julianne Moore) is a forty-year-old unmarried high school English teacher in the small town of Kingston, Pennsylvania. She shares a small apartment with two Siamese cats and her rich collection of great literature. She maintains no close personal relationships aside from those she has with her favorite authors and stories. Her life is far less complicated than the dramas she devours on the page, and she likes it that way. But Linda’s simple life turns an unexpected page when former star pupil Jason Sherwood (Michael Angarano) returns to Kingston after trying to make it as a playwright in New York. Now in his 20s, Jason is on the verge of abandoning art, pressured by his overbearing father, Dr. Tom Sherwood (Greg Kinnear), to face reality and go to law school. Linda can’t stand the thought of Jason giving up on his dreams so she decides to mount his play – a dark, angst-ridden, ambitious work – as a Kingston High School production, with flamboyant drama teacher Carl …

Lily will star in “Love, Rosie” with Sam Claflin also starring.

David Garrett’s Mister Smith Entertainment will debut Love, Rosie at the European Film Market this week in Berlin. Principal photography starts in May on the project, based on the novel Where Rainbows End by P.S. I Love You author Cecelia Ahern. Calendar Girls‘ Juliette Towhidi wrote the script and German helmer Christian Ditter (Wickie And The Treasure Of The Gods, French For Beginners) is directing.

She encourages Alex to go without her and over the next 12 years their lives change but an undeniable connection remains.

Constantin’s Robert Kulzer and Canyon Creek Films’ Simon Brooks are producing, with Constantin head of film & TV, Martin Moszkowicz, exec producing. Collins is represented by CAA and Claflin is co-represented by CAA and London-based Independent Talent Group. Ahern is repped by Marianne Gunn O’Connor Creative Agency; Ditter by ICM Partners and Germany’s Above The Line; and Towhidi by Casarotto Ramsay & Associates Limited.

The official schedule for the Toronto International Film Festival was released earlier today. “Writers” will have it’s premiere at the festival September 9 and Lily is expected to attend the festival according to the official press release.

PROGRAMMER’S NOTE
Heaven help the children of writers — especially those children aspiring to be writers themselves. Take Sam Borgens (Lily Collins), just nineteen and already set to have her first novel published. Her father, acclaimed novelist Bill Borgens (Greg Kinnear), is ostensibly thrilled for Sam — but he can’t quite disguise his resentment that she never asked him for help. There might also be a touch of envy at his progeny’s progress, as Bill is helplessly stalled in the writing of his new book. But then, he has no one but himself to blame. He spends what should be his writing hours spying on his ex-wife Erica (Jennifer Connelly) and her new husband, refusing to let go of a marriage that truly, definitively ended; he even makes his son Rusty (Nat Wolff ) set a place at the table for Erica every Thanksgiving, despite the fact that she left him three years ago.
